Unclear Process. Lost Participation.
The Problem.
Colorado’s primary voting system was clear in rule, but unclear in practice. Many voters, especially unaffiliated voters, did not realize they had to choose and submit only one party ballot for their vote to count. That gap led to hesitation, mistakes, and lower participation. At the same time, unaffiliated voters were not being directly addressed, making it easy to disengage. The challenge was simple but critical. Make the process understood and make it feel relevant.
Make It Personal. Make It Count.
The Approach.

I built the campaign around one idea. Make it personal and make it obvious. Using Make Sure Your Vote Counts, we placed real people directly into the message to create instant connection. Choice Happens With U reinforced that action was required and put responsibility in the hands of the voter. We carried this across print, billboards, direct mail, and digital, pairing clear instruction with human storytelling. Every touchpoint worked to remove confusion and replace it with confidence.
Informed Voters. Stronger Results.
The Outcome.

The message landed. Voters better understood how the process worked and what they needed to do to have their vote count. Engagement increased as more people actively sought information and guidance. Unaffiliated voters responded to messaging that included them, leading to stronger participation and a clearer connection to the process. Campaigns focused on clarity and relevance often drive turnout gains in the five to ten percent range, helping more people participate with confidence.
